St. Joseph High School at the State-Level NEP 2020 Conference
Tr. Flavia, our Eco Club Incharge and Nodal Teacher, represented St. Joseph High School, Wadala at the State-Level Coordination and Deliberation Conference on "Beyond the Textbook: Experiential Learning and Innovative Teaching Methods through the School Environment," organized by Salaam Bombay Foundation under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Held on 25th August 2026 at the Regional Educational Authority, Fort, Mumbai, the conference brought together officials from the Education Department, SCERT representatives, educationists, principals, teachers, and experts from the agriculture and nutrition sectors to discuss how school environments can become spaces for hands-on, experiential learning.
Ms. Flavia shared insights from our own Eco Club, showcasing our Butterfly Garden and our Adopt-a-Space programme, along with the special scarves and badges given to our Eco Club Warriors — along with our proud 2nd place finish in the State Greenest School Award. She also contributed to discussions on Teacher Capacity Building, highlighting how training teachers first, building confidence across subjects, and using a peer-leader model among students can help schools sustain this kind of learning long-term.
We are grateful to Salaam Bombay Foundation for the opportunity to be part of this important state-level dialogue, and proud to see St. Joseph's experience recognized as a model for other schools.

Food Loss and Food Waste Rally
On the 29th of September, 2025 the Eco-Club students of St. Joseph’s High School, Wadala spread awareness about the critical issue of food loss and food waste, through a meaningful rally.
The rally was a commendable effort to instill a sense of responsibility and gratitude among the young minds. It served as a reminder that small actions, like not wasting food, can make a big difference.

Eco-Friendly Ganesha Competition
The Eco-Friendly Ganesha Competition was held on August 26, 2025.
Over 200 students participated, showcasing creativity with eco-friendly materials like leaves, clay, flowers, mud, and atta. Key highlights included:
- Students creating unique eco-friendly Ganesha idols
It was a valuable learning experience, encouraging students to think creatively while being mindful of their ecological footprint.

Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam
The essence of 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' is a symbolic gesture—planting a tree in the name of one's mother. This simple act serves a dual purpose: honoring the role of mothers in nurturing life and contributing to the health of the planet. Trees are life-sustaining, and just like a mother, they provide sustenance, protection, and a future for the next generation. Through this initiative, participants not only create a lasting memory in the honour of their mother, but also are addressing the pressing need for environmental preservation.
